Prayer Requests

First, thank you for including us in your prayer life. Submitted prayers, published or private are prayed for each morning, every morning. Prayers are kept on our list for one month unless we get an update, praise report or are asked that they be removed. We believe our prayer requests are a three way covenant between the submitter, ourselves and God. We do our best to uphold our part. If you have any problem with any request or or an update please let us know. Thank you and God bless.

Doug (VARC Member) has been relocated from cardiac ICU to the 6th floor, room 6060, of the O.S.U. Ross Hospital. He has an entirely new 'team' of doctors with a much more optimistic view. Tomorrow morning they are going to do another cardiac MRI. They want to confirm (1) the left bottom quarter of his heart is gone and (2) the right side is as strong as the ICU team reported. Given his age (46) the new team isn't sure the heart pump and then a transplant is the best strategy, and they don't want to rule out the by pass options. Doug's spirits are better. He's now allowed to sit up and move a little bit. He even took an assisted walk today. When in ICU and with the big heart pump he had to lay flat on his back and not move.

Pray for Barry Haarde. Barry has hemophilia and contracted HIV and Hepatitis C 'back in the day' when the blood supply was tainted. Today he is very healthy, all but cured, thanks to advances in drug treatments. He has for several years raised money to support hemophilia organizations by riding his bike across the USA. After doing that 5 times, he decided todo something different and is riding the length of the AlCan highway. He left a few days ago from somewhere in British Columbus. He will end up in Anchorage (or is it Fairbanks?) Alaska. Pray for the success of his efforts and for his safety. Please pray for my son Nick. He is doing so well but still has emotional challenges stemming from his ADHD and adolescence. I would also ask your prayers for him as he has decided to join the Knights of Columbus. Pray that this will be a good step in his emotional and spiritual development.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Abby R. Abby was a 10 year student at Our Lady of the Greenwood School. Her passing was completely unexpected, the result of a sudden asthma attack. She was taken to the hospital but she passed Sunday night. First, please pray for the Abby that she will be received into the loving arms of Christ. (She had just received her First Holy Communion.) Also, please pray for her parents and siblings an extended family who are hurting so much right now. I would also ask your prayers for the students, teachers and staff at 'OLG' who have been devastated by this news. Abby was a delightful child, loved by all. Just a nice little kid.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of my cousin Dan McGuire. Dan had lived in California for much of his adult life and was originally from our hometown of Lafayette IN. He passed yesterday from brain cancer. Ask the Lord to receive him in Paradise and to console his wife, children and grandchildren. Please pray for my wife Julie as she prepares to leave Saturday for a six week fellowship, spending 4 wks studying Byzantine iconography with Deacon Charles Rohrbacher in Alaska. She will then spend two weeks, with our son Nick, in California. Please let this be a positive experience for both and we beg St Christopher's intercession for their safe travels. Please pray for our daughter Kathy who will be heading off to CYO summer camp in 2 wks. Pray that it be a time of fellowship and fun. We also offer our thanks and praise to God for helping Nick nail his spring classes. He pulled down an A and two Bs. He has also gotten an A in one summer school class and is working on another. I also ask for your continued prayers as Kathy and I prepare to relocate to Kansas. As if all this wasn't complicated enough, I may be heading for my third sinus surgery. I am not looking forward to that. I pray for peace in the world, for the healing of mind and body of recent victims of Muslim terror and for the Lord's beneficent blessings on the Christians in the Middle East. May we, too, be protected in this life from the work of the Devil and those who would be in his service. As always, I pray for your needs and petitions. God bless. Mike
