URC)It was only the second time in history that the URC Sprints visited the Port Royal Speedway and on that night (June 24, 1967), veteran driver Earl Halaquist took the win. Saturday night, it was Maytown, PA driver Ryan Wilson who scored his first career Rislone URC Sprint Series feature win worth $2,000. Wilson, in just his fifth start with URC took the lead on lap nine from Bryn Gohn and survived several late race cautions to earn the win. URC continues to draw solid car counts with thirty-one sprints taking part in the program. The well prepared Port Royal Speedway provide numerous racing grooves for the URC drivers and a strong crowd was on hand for this historic URC return to Port Royal.

NOTE: I was part of the other time URC visited Port Royal in 1967. We were still running the Ford powered car built by Stan Hover.
