Serving the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Assoc as their chaplain is usually challenging as we deal with the personal issues of the good folks but not like this trip. Personal and health issues abound. Several crashes with some of a serious nature. Today a four wheeler pulled across the track in front of the field of midgets running under caution. He was struck and thrown through the air onto the track. I rode in the ambulance to the Orlando Trauma Cntr. and waited for word. They were still in the diagnosis process when I left but he was listed as stable. Two broken vertebrae in his neck, two in his lower back and a broken breast bone are the early findings.

In praying for the many prayer requests on this site each morning, the challenges stretch one's imagination at times. It is great to be doing ministry at the races which we love but it is certainly not all fun and games. These folks are our church, our flock and our friends. Early to bed to be ready for day four. After the night the sun shines once more.
