Doctors attending to Prison Fellowship founder Chuck Colson have advised his family members to gather by his bedside.
A notice from Prison Fellowship CEO Jim Liske states that "it appears our friend, brother and founder will soon be home with the Lord." That statement comes after Colson's condition took a decided turn for the worse on Tuesday, he adds.
Colson underwent surgery more than two weeks ago to remove a pool of clotted blood on the surface of his brain. But while Liske says there had been "some hopeful signs" for Colson's recovery, "it seems that God may be calling him home."
Liske adds that he believes that despite the dire situation, the ministry founder would urge those called to spread the gospel to "remain at your posts and do your duty -- for the glory of God and His kingdom." Colson is 80 years old.
