Mercer, PA (March 9, 2012): In a few short weeks, the green flag will waive again over Mercer Raceway Park. Track manager Frank Benic has assembled another diverse and entertaining schedule that will delight fans of all ages.
The action will start on Saturday, March 31, with the annual Chiller Thriller. Once again, the powerful UFo Late Models will be the headline attraction. This will be the only appearance of the Super Late Models at the tricky oval. Joining them will be the popular open-wheeled modifieds of the UEMS Series. Stock Cars and Mini Stocks will round out the card for the opening event.
Mercer's loyal Sprint Car fans will have several special events to choose from. The All Stars Circuit of Champions will visit twice. The first sanctioned event will be on May 12. The All Stars will be back on August 25. The Auto Racers for Kids charity race will feature the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars on June 16. After several years absence, the 360 Sprints of the Patriot Sprint Group will be on tap over Labor Day weekend. And, if you like your Sprints without wings, be sure to mark May 19 on your calendars. The BOSS series from across the border in the Buckeye state will thrill everybody with their back 'em in style.
The nation's oldest sanctioning body, the American Racing Drivers Club, will bring their little sticks of dynamite to the Park on June 2 and July 21. The Midget races have become a fan favorite! The FASTRAK Late Model Series will present a Northeast Regional Series race on July 7.
Another touring series, the BRP/Hoosier Tire Modified Tour, will bring the ground-pounding Big Blocks into town on August 18. Will this be the year for a regular in the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds to defend the home turf?
The Little Guy Nationals will close out the oval track action on September 21 and 22. The pulling pit will be put to the test twice during the 2012 season. The All American Tractor Pull will be held on May 27 and September 15.
Regular weekly racing will consist of the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, the ti22 Performance Outlaw Sprint Warriors, the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds, the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars and the Big Daddy's Speed Center Modified Lites. The Mini Stocks will also be part of the normal racing program. Anyone seeking an opportunity to sponsor that division should contact track manager Frank Benic for details.
