I Met A Man

The Taunton's Children's Home Church was really crowded  today with about 50 extra people.  We had a group there from West Palm Beach, FL. The speaker was the minister of the group and about 20 of the youth put on a mime program about sin.

Then after the speaker one of their adult men (we will call him Paul) stood up as David Taunton wanted him to give his testimony.  So we went over about 15 minutes.  But he was good for us to hear especially the kids.

Paul told us how he started on drugs at 12 yrs old and then decided to sell it and make some money.  Well he got kicked out of elementary school and then started middle school and then tried it again and got kicked out of it and then on to high school and well the same thing.  He was on the streets selling and using & destroying his body. With drugs & junk going into his body and little food, he was destroying his body.  He was very crippled up with his back, legs, neck and didn't know how he was able to stand up for as long as he did that day. He told us that his body had developed all these problems from the all the bad choices he had made during his life.

After about 20 some years later he decided his life was a waste and he thought he should just take all of his pills he had there and end it all.    But a voice inside of him said NO!....  Go talk to a priest!  He was Catholic.  So he went to the Catholic church and was told that all the priests were busy Saturday preparing for Sunday services and they couldn't talk to him today.

He went back home very down and depressed and decided this was a sign that God had turned His back on him.   As he pondered suicide again; the phone rang and it was a priest from that Catholic church,  I don't remember the priest's name but we'll say Father Lewatynski. Well the priest talked to him and told him he would make some phone calls and get him into a program that would help him.  Then Father Lewatynski called him back and directed him to go to a Christian center for help.  "But that's not Catholic", Paul said.  Father Lewatynski reassured him that they were Christians and it would be good for him and help him.

So he went for several weeks got clean & got the counseling and direction that he needed. After the program was over and he wanted to thank Father Lewatynski.  He decided to go to the church and thank him personally. As he arrived at the Catholic church he asked the attendant there for Father Lewatynski; but was told they never heard of that priest.  The attendant went and inquired with other priests there and none of them knew this priest.  They checked records and there had never been a priest there by that name. Paul said I met with him right here in this room just several weeks ago and he set up for me to go get the help I needed.  Sorry they said.

Puzzled he left. Walking home he realized the priest must have been an angel sent by God to help him.  He knew now what he had to do with his life from this day on he would spend each and every day devoted to the Lord and helping other young people who were going into the wrong direction.

He works with youth groups in his area and his church.  As he suffers with all his bone pains & arthritis; he knows God has started his healing but the rest will come.   He is faithful and dedicated and we know he is building up his rewards for later.

John 9:13-41     Key Verse: 9:25  “He replied, ‘Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!’”

Hebrews13:2     1Continue in brotherly love. 2Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.
